Privacy Policy
Trial run: PVQuick is currently in a trial run.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information PVQuick LLC (“PVQuick”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use the PVQuick software at pvquick.ai, the website pvquick.com and the PVQuick AI Hub at pvquick.net (the “Service”), how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.
1. Who we are
PVQuick LLC, 455 Market St Ste 1940 #671818, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. Contact: support@pvquick.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: your email address and password when you register (passwords are handled by Amazon Cognito and are never visible to us), your name, the language you prefer and whether you are in mainland China (asked at sign-up), and the profile details you choose to add, such as company, phone, country and address.
- Project data: what you enter or upload to design a project, including the site location (coordinates and place name), site boundaries, equipment choices, design inputs and the results.
- AI Hub content: what you post on pvquick.net — topics, replies and images, including feedback sent from inside the software with a screenshot and the page it came from — and your points record. Posts in the public boards can be read by other signed-in members.
- Payment information: if you subscribe to Pro, Stripe processes your payment. We receive your subscription status and a Stripe customer identifier; we do not receive or store your card number.
- Technical information: IP address, browser type and server logs needed to operate, secure and troubleshoot the Service. Your browser’s local storage keeps your sign-in session and preferences such as the interface language.
- Usage records: which pages you open in the software and how long you stay, which buttons, tabs and options you click, what you choose in selection boxes and enter in number fields, errors that occur, and your device type, screen size and interface language. We do not record what you type into text fields, passwords, email addresses or phone numbers, or your keystrokes.
- Messages: the content of emails you send us.
We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics services, and we do not sell personal information.
3. How we use information
- to provide the Service: run calculations, save your projects and produce reports;
- to manage your account and subscription, and to answer your questions;
- to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems, including screening sign-ups for abuse;
- to screen every AI Hub post with an AI model for advertising, abuse, fabricated content and similar problems, with moderators confirming the results (rule 7 of the AI Hub Guidelines says which posts are held for a moderator and how breaches are handled), to answer and tag posts, and to send emails in the language you chose;
- to answer the questions you ask Xiaofu (our AI agent) in the software: your question, the earlier turns of the conversation, your current project's saved data (the inputs and results of each step) and the text shown on the page you are on are sent together to an AI model for processing (Amazon Bedrock, in the United States), without your email address; when you ask about your other projects, points or plan, Xiaofu reads those too, and only your own; we keep the questions and answers (your question, Xiaofu's answer, the calculation results it used, and whether you marked it helpful) and use them only within the PVQuick team to analyse and improve Xiaofu;
- to analyse how the software is used and improve its features and interface, using the usage records above; they are used only within the PVQuick team, never for advertising, and are not shared with third parties;
- to comply with legal obligations.
Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, our legal bases are the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, compliance with legal obligations, and your consent where it is required.
4. How information is shared
- Service providers: Amazon Web Services (hosting, sign-in, storage, verification messages, and the AI models we use through Amazon Bedrock, in the United States), Stripe (payments) and our email provider (support mailbox), each processing information on our behalf.
- Map and data services: when you view maps, your browser loads map tiles directly from Esri, which receives your IP address and the area shown. To obtain weather, solar, place-name, elevation and water-body data, our servers send project coordinates, or the place name you search for (not your name or email), to public services: NASA POWER (United States); PVGIS of the European Commission Joint Research Centre (European Union) for sites outside the Americas and the National Solar Radiation Database of the National Laboratory of the Rockies (United States) for sites in the Americas, for hourly typical-year weather; OpenStreetMap Nominatim and Overpass (place search, water bodies and land cover); BigDataCloud (place names); and Open-Elevation and the U.S. Geological Survey (elevation). Elevation, land-cover and surface-water maps (Copernicus DEM, ESA WorldCover, JRC Global Surface Water) are read from public cloud storage. The attributions and licences of these data are listed on our Data Sources and Licences page.
- Web fonts: pvquick.com loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address.
- Legal reasons: when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of users and PVQuick.
- Business transfers: as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
5. International transfers
Our servers are in the United States (AWS, US West region). If you use the Service from outside the United States, including from the European Union or China, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards or on your consent for such transfers. If we later operate servers in mainland China, the accounts and data of users who said they are in mainland China may be moved there; we will tell you before that happens.
6. Retention
We keep account information and projects until you delete them or ask us to close your account. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting laws require. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting. Usage records and Xiaofu's questions and answers are deleted automatically after 24 months.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To make a request — including deleting your account — email support@pvquick.com; we will reply within 30 days. You can ask us to stop recording or to delete your usage records by emailing the same address. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
8. Security
Information is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored with Amazon Web Services under access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. Children
The Service is intended for professionals and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. For material changes we will give notice on the website or by email before they take effect.
11. Language
This Policy is provided in English and Chinese. If the two versions differ, the English version prevails.
